From
The Pantry
Besides
all the fabulous artisan cheeses that are our specialty, we also carry many other
fine foods. We’ve described some of our standards—and current favorites—below,
but there’s too much on the shelves to tell you about everything! Plus,
we’re always on the lookout for something new—so make a point of checking
in often.
The Staples:
Crackers &
Flatbreads
We have a very wide assortment of crackers. After all, if you’re
not using your cheese in your favorite recipe, on today’s salad, with fruit
and nuts after dinner, or with a nice crusty bread—well then, You Need Crackers!
Choose your favorite or try any one of ours: Fine Cheese Co. crackers, Late July
Crackers (organic), Monet crackers, Bremner Wafers, Sportic Bread Sticks, F alwasser
Crisp Bread, Crostini Tuscan Crackers, Passport Flatbread or Le Lingue, a delicious
Italian flatbread.
Pasta
We carry Nosari Pastas—truly the best we’ve ever eaten. All
semolina flour and bronze dies do make a difference! Available in Galle Francesine,
Garganelli, Nastini or Gigli style. Take home al Dente sauce with your pasta choice.
Tea
& Coffee
We feature coffee from Sonoma Valley Coffee Roasters. It’s what
we brew for the pot at the end of the counter. Come by and try a cup—then
take a pound home.
If you’re a tea drinker, we have a selection of wonderful organic and herbal
teas from Mighty Leaf.
Or for something a little different, try Redbush Tea, the choice of Mma Ramotswe
and her No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. Made from the South African herb
Rooibos, which means literally red bush, the tea contains no additives, colorings,
artificial preservatives or calories. Rooibos is also naturally caffeine free
and extremely low in tannin.
Salt & Pepper
We carry kosher and sea salts—and peppercorns for the standard
pairing. For something special, consider either the pink Hawaiian ‘Alea
Sea Salt or the classic Fleur de Sel de Guerande from the marshes off the coast
of Normandy. This last will work in one of our salt grinders.
Cook’s Cupboard:
Oils
& Vinegars
Quality oils and vinegars make a difference to any dish and are well worth paying
just a bit more for. If you’re not so sure, don’t take our word for
it; come by the store and taste for yourself. We have fresh, flavorful olive oils
and a nearly incredible selection of vinegars for you to choose from.
Baking Supplies
Vanilla extracts, honeys and exotic baking sugars—and did we say
chocolate? Yes, we have chocolate! There’s Scharffen Berger, of course.
And Barry cocoa powder, a dark cocoa powder from France that’s great for
pudding—ask for a recipe. Then we have dolfin chocolate and Callebaut, both
unsweetened and bittersweet. There’s more, but you must come by and see.
If you need chocolate, we’ve got chocolate.
To top off whatever sweet thing you’re serving, there’s also King’s
Cupboard chocolate or caramel sauce. Oh my.
Condiments
We’ve got all kinds of tasty things to complement just about anything
on your plate—from prepared mustards and pepper jelly to marmalades and
jams. We have fig spread and quince paste, pearl onions and olive tapenade.
Pomegranate Molasses is one of our favorites. You have to try it to believe how
incredibly good it is. Use pomegranate molasses on vanilla bean ice cream with
strawberries, as a drink with fizzy water, as a glaze for duck, pork or chicken,
or in a salad dressing with olive oil. An especially delicious dessert is pom
molasses drizzled over a French triple-crème. The possibilities are endless!
Did
we mention…
Salami, olives, gelato, sorbet, fresh fruit in season, and cold drinks
from Fonteva, San Pellegrino and Rieme? Plus, linen towels, The Cheesemaker’s
Daughter aprons and totes, glass ware and other surprises?
